New Unsit App Coming December 2024

After several delays, the new Unsit App is finally ready for release!

(scroll down to skip straight to the new look of the app)

But first, a quick note about why it took so long. The truth is, I don't know! As a small team, all of our experience and expertise is in product development and service. We didn't have any experience developing software prior to starting this process. We began development in the 2022, and just kept running into weird challenges and delays. I can't say I really understood them. I just relied on the team of developers that we hired to run the whole process, and it simply took MUCH longer than anyone ever expected. I'm just sorry to any users that had trouble with the legacy version of the app.

Now onto the new!

With the new app, we initially just focused on 3 goals:

  1. Making sure the treadmill and the app connect easily and reliably via Bluetooth. With the old app, users had to manually connect their device every time they left the treadmill and then returned. The new app will connect automatically whenever you return to your desk.

  2. Making sure we could accurately track and present your activity data (steps, distance and time). In other words, our primary focus was on reliability of essential functions of the app, before we put any time and resource into more advanced features.

  3. Making sure the app syncs with your favorite health tracking apps (i.e. Apple Health, Google Fit and Fitbit). This has been tricky in the past, because of changing standards for syncing with these apps, and because of the older programming in the legacy Unsit App.

We still have plans for several more features - but all of this is to say that our top priority was to make sure that our users have access to a reliable app for tracking and visualizing the activity you're putting in on your treadmill.

With all that said, let's introduce you to the new look app!

Unsit App Dashboard

First up is the dashboard, where most of your time will be spent. This is where you track the day's progress, compared against daily goals (more on that in a sec). It will also give you a clear view of your walking speed and indicate the connection status between your treadmill and device.

Unsit App Goals

With the new app, we added the ability to set daily goals for steps, time and distance. This then allows you to visually track your progress toward achieving those goals on the dashboard. There is no need to set and adhere to these goals. For many of you, the goals is just to walk when you can - not necessarily to reach a certain number of steps. Please don't change what works for you! But for the many of you that love setting and achieving goals, this is a great way to motivate more walking.

Unsit App History and Tracking Over Time

The new Unsit App will also give you the ability to look back on your past progress in nearly any time increment - last 7 days, last 30 days, etc. Even custom time windows. And your history can be viewed by steps, time or by distance. You're putting in a lot of work. Why not have the ability to look back on your progress every once in a while?

Unsit App Settings and Syncing

Finally, the new settings page should make syncing to your favorite health app easier than ever. The Unsit App will connect with Apple Health (on Apple devices), Google Fit and Fitbit.

The app should be available in the Apple store before the end of the year.

Thank you to all of our customers and friends that have been so very patient with us. I just can't apologize enough for the time it took to get this done, but I hope you're happy with what we've created. There will definitely be some bugs that we find in the coming months, so I hope everyone will continue to be paitent with us and trust that we're doing everything in our power to offer an app that complements the quality of our treadmill.
